Hello and Welcome,
My name is Tambra Bernal, and I'm the author of "In-Home Daycare Basics 101, Simple Steps to Success." I have had the privilege and the blessing of owning and operating my own in-home daycare for over 10 years now. I make an incredible income through my daycare, but best of all, I get to raise my own children.
It is my goal to show you how you can easily and successfully open and operate your very own home daycare with very little effort and without spending a lot of money. But first, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself.
I am currently 39 years old, and my husband and I have been married for 16 years now. We have four beautiful children that are spaced out in age with my oldest being 14 years old, my twins are 7, and my baby is 18 months.
When my husband and I first got married, I was very motivated with my corporate jobs and moved up through the ranks very quickly. I was all about work and my corporate success until I became a mommy.
I tried staying in the corporate world, but my heart was always wondering about my daughter, was she being taken care of the way I would take care of her; does she feel safe and secure; does she feel abandoned? All these questions were always running through my mind.
Then there was my husband. My husband has been with the railroad for over 13 years now as a locomotive engineer. He works very crazy hours being on call 24/7, in and out of the door at all hours of the day and night. With his crazy schedule, it was nothing for us to not see each other for days at a time. My daughter and I would leave in the morning and head to daycare and work, and he would come home after we had already left for the day. He would get some sleep and have to leave before we got back home that evening. This could go on for days at a time. I was now missing my husband and my child to the point that I couldn't concentrate at work.
It was at this point that I started thinking about what I could do at home to be with my family and still bring in the amount of money I needed to keep my family afloat. The lady who was taking care of my daughter suggested to me that I open a daycare. She told me a little bit about her business, and after some thought and research, I came to the conclusion that in-home daycare was just what my family needed.
Getting started wasn't easy! I had no idea where to start, who to contact, how much to charge, what hours to work, how to advertise, how to sep up my contract and forms... I was just flat lost! I did manage to get everything put together, but it would have been so much easier if I had someone to walk me through everything step-by-step. This is my goal for you. I want to hold your hand and walk beside you as you get your business up and running. I don't want you to feel as lost and alone as I did. I want you to relax and have a blast!
It is now 10 years later, and I’m still running my daycare and loving every minute of it. I get to raise my children, have time with my husband, contribute to the family finances, and make a HUGE difference in the lives of children. I have had great success with my in-home daycare, and it is my goal to help you have as much fun and success as I have.
